Matric News: Exams, Results and What Comes Next

Matric news in South Africa moves fast, especially between the start of the final exams and results day. Dates get announced, rules change, and rumours spread quickly on WhatsApp and social media. This page brings together the news that matters to matric learners, parents and guardians, and anyone rewriting or upgrading

their marks, all in one place.

Here you'll find timely updates on the National Senior Certificate (NSC) year. We cover exam timetables and what happens on paper days, marking and how results are checked, the matric results release date and how to get your results, and the windows for re-marks, re-checks and rewrites. We also report on news from the Department of Basic Education (DBE), the quality council Umalusi, and private exam boards like the IEB.

News goes out of date quickly, so every post is dated. When the official word changes, we update the post and say so. If a date has not been confirmed yet, we tell you plainly instead of guessing. Be careful of any website that gives an "official" date before the DBE has announced it.

Results day is only the start. Each news post links to our longer guides, so you can go from "what happened" to "what do I do now". That includes understanding your results, applying to university or a TVET college, funding your studies with NSFAS or a bursary, and second-chance options if things didn't go to plan.

We check every fact against official South African sources before it goes up, and we don't take payment to promote any school, college or course in our news.
