Please read these terms before using ThinkEducation. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Who runs this site

2. What ThinkEducation is — and what it is not
ThinkEducation.co.za is an information website. We publish profiles of careers, descriptions of qualifications, and a directory of education and training institutions in South Africa, so that you can work out what to study, where to study it, and how to pay for it.
We are not:
- an education institution, a college or a university
- an agent, representative or recruiter for any institution
- an application service, a placement service or an admissions office
- a financial adviser, a career counsellor or a legal adviser
We cannot:
- apply to any institution on your behalf
- influence whether you are accepted anywhere
- guarantee that a course, a place, a bursary or a job will be available to you
- guarantee that you will be able to afford, complete or find work through any qualification described on this site
Every decision about your education is yours, and where you are under 18, yours together with your parent or guardian. Please treat what you read here as a starting point for your own checking, not as the final word.
3. About the information we publish
We take accuracy seriously and we have a published standard for it. In short: we only publish a fact when we have a named source and a date, and where we cannot verify something we leave it out and say so rather than filling the gap with a guess. You will see notes on some pages telling you plainly that a figure or a requirement could not be confirmed. Those notes are deliberate.
Even so:
- Entry requirements, fees, closing dates, salaries and funding rules change, sometimes at short notice and sometimes without public announcement.
- Requirements differ between institutions for what looks like the same qualification. Universities do not calculate admission scores the same way as one another.
- A page tells you when it was last reviewed. A page reviewed a year ago may have been overtaken.
So: always confirm the specifics directly with the institution, the professional body or the funder before you rely on them — before you apply, before you pay anything, and before you choose your Grade 10 subjects. Where we can, we tell you exactly who to ask and how.
To the extent the law allows, we do not warrant that the information on this site is complete, current or error-free, and we are not liable for a decision you make based on it. If you find something wrong, please tell us — see clause 17.
4. Institution listings we created ourselves
Most listings in our directory were captured by us from public sources — official registers published by the Department of Higher Education and Training, institutions' own websites, and published prospectuses. The institution did not supply them and has not approved them. Each listing says where its details came from and when they were checked.
We publish these because a directory with gaps in it is not useful to a learner, and because an institution that has not paid us anything should still be findable.
We only publish institution-level facts. We do not publish the name, direct phone number, personal email address or personal social media account of any individual person at an institution. Generic institutional addresses such as admissions@ or info@ are fine; a named person's contact details are not, and are removed if they reach us.
If you work at an institution listed here:
- You can claim the listing free of charge, once we have verified that you are authorised to act for the institution, and then correct anything that is wrong.
- You can ask us to correct a factual error at any time, whether or not you claim the listing, and we will fix it or tell you why we have not.
- You can ask us to remove the listing. We will consider the request and respond, but we do not undertake in advance to remove accurate information about a registered institution that is already in the public domain.
Requests go to info@thinkeducation.co.za
5. Buying a listing or a featured placement
This clause applies only where an institution buys something from us. It does not apply to learners, parents or general visitors.
Two separate products. They are priced separately and they are not two rungs of the same ladder:
- A listing package is a subscription that upgrades the institution's own page — a fuller description, logo and images, social links, a prospectus, and (once it is available) an enquiry route.
- A featured placement is a dated, labelled position at the top of a specific results list — a province page, a type page, the home page, a qualification page or a career page. It is bought per list, per period, and the number of positions on each list is capped.
Terms that apply to both:
- Periods and renewal. Every purchase runs for a stated period with a stated start and end date. It does not renew automatically unless the order says so in writing.
- Grace period. When a listing package lapses, the institution's page continues to display in full for 7 days. Featured placements stop immediately when a listing enters grace — a featured position is scarce and is not carried past the paid period.
- We hide, we do not delete. When something lapses, the extra content stops displaying. Your logo, images, description, social links and prospectus stay on our system and reappear if you renew. We do not delete them.
- Availability. Featured positions are limited per list and are sold on a first-come basis. If a position is not available for the period you want, we will tell you the first date it is.
- What we do not promise. We do not guarantee a number of enquiries, visitors, clicks, applications or enrolments. We do not guarantee any position in Google or any other search engine. Anyone who promises you that is guessing.
- Editorial independence. Buying anything from us does not change what we publish on career pages, qualification pages or articles, does not change a fact, and does not remove or demote another institution. See our Advertising Disclosure.
- Accuracy of what you give us. You are responsible for the accuracy of the content you supply, you confirm you are authorised to supply it, and you confirm that any accreditation or registration you claim is real and current. We may remove content we believe to be misleading and we may suspend a listing while we check.
- Payment terms- invoices. We invoice you for your listing or advertising package once you have confirmed your order. Each invoice shows the package, the period it covers, the amount due and the due date.
When payment is due:
- New accounts: payment is due upfront. Your listing or campaign goes live once we have received payment in full.
- Established clients: payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. We decide when an account counts as established, usually after at least one paid and completed booking.
How to pay: We accept payment by electronic bank transfer (EFT) only. Our banking details are on every invoice. Please use your invoice number as the payment reference and email proof of payment to info@thinkeducation.co.za. We will never change our banking details by email. If you receive a message saying our details have changed, call us on +27 63 197 5060 before you pay.
VAT: Think Education Group Pty Ltd is not registered for VAT, so our prices and invoices do not include VAT. If we register for VAT in future, we will tell you in writing before any VAT is charged, and it will only apply to invoices issued after our registration date.
If payment is late: If an invoice is not paid by its due date, we may:
- send you a reminder and give you 7 days to pay;
- pause or remove your listing, advertising or other paid features until the account is settled;
- ask for upfront payment on future orders; and
- charge interest on the overdue amount at the rate allowed by the Prescribed Rate of Interest Act 55 of 1975, from the due date until it is paid.
If we have to hand an overdue account to a debt collector or attorney, you will be responsible for the reasonable collection costs, as far as the law allows.
Queries: If you think an invoice is wrong, please tell us within 7 days of receiving it, and pay any part of it that isn't in dispute by the due date.
Cancellation by us: We may end a listing and refund the unused portion if we conclude the institution is misrepresenting its accreditation, is advertising in breach of clause 6, or is the subject of a regulatory action that makes continued listing misleading to learners.
Cancellation
You may cancel a listing or campaign by emailing info@thinkeducation.co.za. If it hasn't started yet, you can cancel at any time and we'll refund you in full. Once a campaign has started serving, we need 30 calendar days' written notice (or any shorter period the law allows). The campaign keeps running during the notice period, and you only pay for what has run or been served up to the end of it. We'll refund any prepaid balance within 15 business days. Nothing in this clause limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
6. Advertising
The site carries advertising. We explain exactly how, what it does and does not buy, and how we label it, on our Advertising Disclosure page. That page forms part of these terms.
We do not accept advertising that misrepresents accreditation, that promises employment or admission, that targets learners with credit or lending products, or that would breach the Code of Advertising Practice administered by the Advertising Regulatory Board.
7. Links to other websites
We link out — to institutions, professional bodies, government departments, funders and source documents. We do that because you should be able to check what we tell you. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.
Some outbound links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy something after following them. This never costs you more, and it never changes what we recommend. Affiliate links are labelled. See the Advertising Disclosure.
8. Using the site
You may read, print and share our pages for your own use, and link to them freely — please do.
You may not:
- copy, scrape, harvest or systematically extract the directory or any substantial part of the site, by any automated means, whether for a competing service or for anything else
- republish our compiled content as your own
- use the site to send unsolicited marketing to institutions or to us
- attempt to interfere with the site, its security, or other people's use of it
- submit anything false, misleading, unlawful, abusive or infringing
9. Who owns what
The way this site is written, designed, structured and assembled belongs to us. Institution names, logos and trade marks belong to those institutions and appear here to identify them. Legislation, regulations, government gazettes and official registers are quoted and cited as sources, and remain the property of their publishers.
If you believe something on this site infringes your rights, tell us at info@thinkeducation.co.za with enough detail to identify it and we will deal with it promptly.
10. Anything you send us
If you send us a correction, a question, a claim on a listing or content for a listing, you give us permission to use it for the purpose you sent it for. Please do not send us confidential information through the site. Do not send us anyone else's personal information without their permission.
11. Availability
We try to keep the site up and working. We do not promise that it will always be available, that it will work on every device, or that it will be free of faults. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it.
12. Limits on our liability
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 — and nothing here excludes liability for our own fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows: we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of income, opportunity, savings or data, arising from your use of this site or from any decision you make based on it. Where we are found liable to an institution in connection with a paid listing or placement, our total liability is limited to the amount that institution paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.
13. Indemnity
If you use the site in breach of these terms and that causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
14. Your privacy
How we handle personal information, and how we use cookies, is set out in our Privacy Policy. It forms part of these terms.
15. Suspending access
We may suspend or block access where we reasonably believe someone is breaching clause 8.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top always tells you when they last changed. Where a change materially affects an institution's paid listing, we will tell that institution directly and the change will not apply to the current paid period.
17. Complaints and disputes
Tell us first. Email info@thinkeducation.co.za with what happened and what you would like us to do. We aim to acknowledge within 2 working days and to resolve within 7 — 10 working days.
If we cannot sort it out between us:
- Advertising — the Advertising Regulatory Board (arb.org.za), which publishes the Code of Advertising Practice we apply.
- Personal information and privacy — the Information Regulator (South Africa), inforegulator.org.za, POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za, 010 023 5200
- Consumer matters — the National Consumer Commission
- Otherwise, the courts of South Africa
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
19. General
If a clause is found to be unenforceable, the rest stands. Our not enforcing a clause immediately does not mean we have given it up. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and the Advertising Disclosure, are the whole agreement between us about your use of the site.
