Milpark Education is a private higher education institution that teaches at a distance. The legal entity is Milpark Education (Pty) Ltd, company registration number 2004/026244/07, and the institution says it was established in 1997. It is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution under registration number 2007/HE07/003. Its qualifications are registered by the South African Qualifications Authority on the National Qualifications Framework and accredited by the Council on Higher Education.
Study is online. The institution describes three options: distance learning, distance learning online, and online short courses, and it also markets an approach it calls Immersive Online Learning. Its contact page lists a single address, on the third floor of Deneb House at 368 Main Road in Observatory, Cape Town, and no teaching campuses. Enquiries before enrolment go through a form on the website, and registered students log queries through a separate helpdesk site.
Programmes sit in four schools: Business School, Commerce, Financial Services and Professional Accounting. Between them they cover business administration, accounting, banking, financial planning, investment management, short-term insurance, credit, risk and compliance, human resources, marketing, economics, taxation, public administration, and logistics and supply chain. The pathway runs from NQF level 5 to NQF level 10, through higher certificates, advanced certificates, bachelor's degrees, postgraduate diplomas, a Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Business Administration, alongside bridging courses, short courses, and corporate work that includes learnerships, executive education and QCTO occupational certificates. The business school states that its MBA is accredited by the Association of MBAs, and the accounting school states that its Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and its Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting are accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Entry requirements are set programme by programme. The Higher Certificate in Management, for example, asks for a Senior Certificate or National Senior Certificate certified by Umalusi with at least a pass in English. Applicants apply through an online portal, pay an application fee, write an admission test where one applies, and upload supporting documents; a 13-digit South African identity number is required. On paying for study, the institution points to education loans from Capitec of up to R500 000 and from Nedbank of up to R400 000.
