Spend a Day in the Life of an AFDA Student

This is a chance to try out AFDA before your first year starts. You spend a full day at the AFDA campus of your choice. You sit in on real classes, see students at work, and get a feel for the people and spaces. The day links to the areas AFDA teaches, such as Film, Live Performance, Business & Innovation and Creative Writing.

The day is for current Grade 12 learners who have already applied or registered to study at AFDA in 2027. No one under 16 may attend. It is a useful way to check that the course and campus suit you.

You must book online first, and places are limited. The R60 booking fee includes lunch. Before you go, think about which study area interests you most, so you know what to watch for in class.

AFDA runs the day at all five of its campuses: Auckland Park in Johannesburg, Observatory in Cape Town, Glen Anil in Durban, Central in Gqeberha and Hatfield in Tshwane. Pick the one closest to you and plan your transport so you arrive before the 09:00 start.
