Eduvos

Private Higher Education Institution

About the institution

Eduvos is a private higher education institution registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training under the Higher Education Act of 1997, with registration certificate number 2001/HE07/008. Its qualifications are accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee of the Council on Higher Education and registered on the National Qualifications Framework by SAQA. It also holds accreditation from the British Accreditation Council. The institution traces its roots to the Computer Training Institute, founded in 1979, which later joined with Midrand Graduate Institute. The two merged to form the Pearson Institute of Higher Education, which was later acquired and renamed Eduvos. Its head office is in Midrand, Gauteng.

Eduvos teaches in several ways. Campus students attend live lectures during the week. Online students join live lectures on Microsoft Teams. Distance students study at their own pace using recorded lectures and materials on the learning platform, with optional weekly consultation sessions. Some programmes are offered part-time, and one honours programme follows a hybrid pattern of alternating campus and online weeks.

Campuses are located in Midrand, Bedfordview, Pretoria, Vanderbijlpark, Cape Town (Tyger Valley and Mowbray), Umhlanga, Nelson Mandela Bay, East London, Bloemfontein, Mbombela and Potchefstroom. A separate office in Bellville supports online students.

Qualifications run from access and pre-degree foundation programmes and higher certificates through bachelor's degrees, honours degrees, postgraduate certificates and diplomas, to master's degrees. The main fields are information technology, commerce, law, humanities, applied science and graphic design, with short learning programmes and corporate training alongside.

The academic year is split into four blocks, and new students can start at the beginning of any block. Applications are accepted throughout the year, online or at a campus. The basic entry requirement is a National Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification, with an English requirement and subject requirements that differ by qualification. International applicants need a study visa and may need their qualifications evaluated by SAQA.

Fees are set per programme and published as fee schedules on the institution's own site, with separate schedules for local and international students. Monthly payment by debit order is available. Students can apply for study finance through funding partners named on the site, and the institution points students towards external bursaries. Eduvos states that its students do not qualify for NSFAS funding, which goes only to public universities and TVET colleges.
