Academy of Sound EngineeringASE

The Academy of Sound Engineering, known as ASE, is a private higher education institution registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training under the Higher Education Act, 1997, holding registration certificate number 2009/HE07/011. It trades under the company Academy of Sound Engineering (Pty) Ltd, a business registered in South Africa in 1997. Teaching is delivered in person at two campuses, in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, and in Cape Town, rather than online or by distance.

ASE offers full-time and part-time study in two fields: Audio Technology, covering sound recording, mixing and music production, and Television and Screen Media, covering camera work, editing and broadcast production. Its published qualification levels are Higher Certificate and Diploma. The academy positions itself around hands-on, industry-standard equipment rather than classroom theory alone, citing facilities such as a Neve console, an SSL4000 desk, an Audient ASP8024 and more than 240 Apple workstations for audio production, alongside Blackmagic cameras and Avid Media Composer editing suites for its screen media teaching. It describes itself as an Avid Learning Partner, and states that it is the most accredited Avid Pro Tools learning partner in Africa. It also lists links with South African music-industry bodies, including CAPASSO, POSA and SAMPRA, and with the SAMA and SAFTA industry awards, though these are industry affiliations rather than academic accreditation.

Prospective students apply online, using an "Apply Now" process for full-time programmes and an "Enrol Now" process for part-time programmes, or can contact the academy directly or arrange a campus tour before applying. No fixed application opening or closing dates, and no published tuition fees, entry requirements or bursary information, were found on the pages of the site that could be read for this record.
