The Legacy of Daniel Makeup and Tutorials

Private College

About the institution

The Legacy of Daniel Makeup and Tutorials is a private beauty training school in Kempton Park, Gauteng. It started in 2019 and is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) as a skills development provider. That accreditation covers its occupational qualifications and part qualifications only. The school's own site makes clear that its short courses are a separate offering and are not QCTO qualifications.

Teaching happens in person at the Kempton Park premises. Classes are set up like working studios, and each learner practises at an individual vanity station. Theory such as anatomy, hygiene, colour theory and client consultation runs alongside daily hands-on work. Learners can study full-time, part-time or on weekends. The school does not offer distance or online study, although enrolled learners use an online portal for timetables, learning materials, results and their fee account.

There are two kinds of programme. The first is a set of QCTO occupational programmes at NQF Level 4. The broadest is the Beauty Therapist occupational certificate, which runs for about a year. Shorter part qualifications run for a few months each and cover nail therapy, make-up consulting, eye grooming, hair removal, body care, body massage, manual skincare and body therapy. These programmes include knowledge, practical and verified workplace components, and the occupational certificate itself is issued by the QCTO once a learner has met every requirement. The second kind is short courses lasting from a few days to a few months, in areas like lashes, nails, make-up, massage, waxing, facials, microblading, braiding and wig installation. Short-course graduates get a certificate of completion from the school.

Applications go through the school's admissions team. An applicant asks for the programme guide, chooses a qualification, then hands in a signed application form along with a certified ID or passport copy and their school results or other qualifications. Entry criteria for each programme are set out in a written quotation. The school publishes intakes per academic year, and admissions confirms the start date for each programme.

Fees are listed per programme on the school's own site. Accredited programmes have a separate registration fee, then a deposit followed by monthly instalments. The school accepts EFT, bank deposit, card at the office and debit order. It tells learners to pay only into its official account and to get a receipt every time. Its site does not name any bursary or loan funder.
