Imsimbi Training is a private, SETA-accredited training provider that works mainly with employers and working adults rather than with school-leavers heading for a degree. Its accreditation page describes it as a fully accredited provider with the Services SETA, holding accreditation number 2147 and accredited since 2007, and states that it also holds accreditation with the ETDP SETA, the MICT SETA, the Transport SETA, CATHSSETA, the Wholesale and Retail SETA and the QCTO. That page describes accreditation for over 80 short courses and eight full qualifications, while other pages on the same site describe 100 short courses and 13 learnerships. The company is a Level 1 BBBEE business with 51 per cent black ownership, and says that more than 120 000 delegates have attended its courses over 18 years.
Teaching happens either in a classroom or online. The site states that all of its courses are available online, and that courses are offered in either online e-learning or classroom-based formats. Public courses are scheduled and open to individual bookings, and in-house training is customised for a single employer's staff. The head office and main training venue is in Fairland, Randburg, with further offices in Plumstead in Cape Town and in Ballito on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.
The catalogue is grouped into short courses, learnerships and computer courses. The short courses cover management and leadership development, human resources and labour relations, finance for non-financial managers, project management, report writing, customer service, monitoring and evaluation, and personal skills such as time and stress management. The learnerships lead to occupational certificates and older NQF-level qualifications in business administration, general management, human resource management, supply chain, data science, food and beverage services and renewable energy. The computer courses cover Microsoft Office applications and Power BI.
Individual course pages list the course length, the NQF level, and the unit standards and credits a delegate earns, but they do not publish entry requirements. Scheduled dates are published in a downloadable public training calendar. Fees are not shown on the website, and the calendar itself is published without prices. Bookings must be made in writing, an invoice is issued before the course starts, and payment or a purchase order is required before it begins. A public course runs only if at least five people have booked by the booking deadline, and cancellation decisions are made no later than two weeks before the start date.
