About the institution

IMM Graduate School is a private higher education institution that specialises in two fields only: marketing and supply chain management. The legal entity is The IMM Graduate School (Pty) Ltd, registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act of 1997, with registration certificate number 2000/HE07/013. Its qualifications are accredited by the Council on Higher Education and registered on the National Qualifications Framework through the South African Qualifications Authority. Selected marketing qualifications also carry accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and selected supply chain qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. The institution describes itself as having been a distance learning provider for more than 60 years.

Teaching is primarily by distance learning, with the option to study online, on campus, or through a mix of the two. Its two campuses are in Parktown, Johannesburg and in Stellenbosch, and it runs student support centres in Cape Town, Durban and Groenkloof in Pretoria, as well as an administrative office in Harare, Zimbabwe. The national office is at the Parktown site.

Qualifications run from NQF level 5 to master's level. In marketing there is a Higher Certificate, a Diploma, a BBA and a BCom, honours degrees, a Postgraduate Diploma and an MPhil. In supply chain there are Higher Certificates in Supply Chain Management and in Project Management, a BCom in International Supply Chain Management, a BCom Honours, a Postgraduate Diploma and an MCom.

The main academic year runs in semesters, and at the time of research the online application form was taking applications for the first semester of 2027, which starts in February 2027. No closing date is published. A separate Distance OPEN learning route for working adults offers year-round rolling enrolment on a subset of the higher certificates and degrees, so that a student can start once accepted rather than waiting for a semester.

For the Higher Certificate in Marketing, entry is through a National Senior Certificate meeting the higher certificate minimum, a Senior Certificate without endorsement, or Recognition of Prior Learning for applicants aged 23 to 44. Other qualifications have their own criteria.

Fee amounts were not shown on the qualification pages read. For funding, the institution partners with Study Loans 4U, which helps students apply for bank study loans at no cost to the student.
