FEDISA Fashion School is a private fashion school in Cape Town, founded in 2005. It is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act of 1997, and it belongs to the Honoris United Universities Group, a pan-African network of private higher education providers. Its website also calls its qualifications internationally accredited, but it does not name the body behind that claim.
Teaching happens mainly in person at a single campus in the Cape Town city centre, which has design and pattern studios, a computer lab, a library and an auditorium. Some modules are supported by blended learning, and the BA Honours in Fashion is advertised as available full-time online. The school has no network of support centres.
All qualifications are fashion-focused and sit between NQF level 5 and level 8. A one-year higher certificate in applied fashion is the entry point. A three-year diploma covers fashion merchandising, marketing and media, and two three-year bachelor of arts degrees cover fashion design and applied fashion retail. For graduates, there is a one-year BA Honours in Fashion and a one-year postgraduate diploma in innovative design.
Undergraduate applicants apply through an online portal and must submit a short motivation essay of about 300 words. The school states that no portfolio is needed for undergraduate programmes. The website does not set out minimum matric results, so applicants should confirm these with the school. The honours and postgraduate diploma programmes point applicants to portfolio requirements in the school's programme guide. Study runs on a yearly cycle, and the site does not state intake months.
Fees are set per programme, and the school publishes a downloadable fee schedule on its site. Each programme page lists several payment plans: paying in full early, paying in full at the start of the study year, or paying in monthly instalments across most of the academic year. Students can also use education loans offered through partner banks, a funding service called Student Hero that connects students to several finance options, and an in-house excellence bursary. The website does not explain whether NSFAS can be used at this institution, so families are best advised to ask the admissions office directly.
