Enterprises University of Pretoria, known as Enterprises UP, is a private company wholly owned by the University of Pretoria, registered as Enterprises University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd under company number 1999/018455/07. It began in 2000 as two separate bodies, one handling advisory work and commercial research and the other running short courses, and the two were merged into a single company in 2016. Its parent, the University of Pretoria, is a public higher education institution operating under the Higher Education Act 101 of 1997.

The company's main role for learners is short courses. These are not credit-bearing and do not lead to a formal qualification on the National Qualifications Framework unless a particular course says otherwise. Learners who finish a course and meet its assessment requirements receive a certificate of successful completion, or of attendance, issued by the University of Pretoria. Some health courses list HPCSA continuing education units on their course pages.

Courses are taught in several ways, and each course page states which applies: contact sessions in person, fully online and self-paced, fully online with an instructor, or blended study that mixes contact and online work. The office is in Hillcrest, Pretoria, in Gauteng. Organisations can also book customised training, including executive education, delivered at an Enterprises UP venue, at the client's own premises, or online.

The catalogue covers a wide spread of fields, among them agriculture and food security, the built environment, business management, education, engineering management, the environment, finance and tax, health care, human resources, information and communication technology, law, marketing and languages, project and risk management, property, public administration, supply chain and logistics, and veterinary science. The course finder lets visitors filter by delivery mode and by career stage, from school leaver to executive.

There is no single yearly intake. Each course runs on its own published dates, and self-paced online courses open from a stated date and are then completed at the learner's own pace. Entry requirements are set per course; some ask for a National Senior Certificate as a minimum. Fees are published per course on the institution's own site, including VAT. Individuals can enrol and pay online through the site's cart, and companies can ask for a quote or a group quote.
