Chartall Business College is a private provider of higher education and workplace training based in Parktown, Johannesburg. The college is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act of 1997, and it is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations as a skills development provider. Its Bachelor of Business Administration degree is accredited by the Council on Higher Education, and the college also holds accreditation with BANKSETA, the Services SETA, the ETDP SETA and FASSET.
Teaching happens mainly online. Students work through a Moodle-based learning management system that holds recorded lectures, readings, slides, interactive e-learning modules and practice assessments, and they talk to lecturers through forums, email and live online tutorials. The degree is delivered by distance education. The Parktown campus has a computer room and library that students may use, but a visit is optional for the online programmes.
The programme range sits mostly at NQF levels 3 to 7 and is aimed at working adults. It covers banking, financial markets, real estate, accounting, general management, project management, contact centre work and training and development, with occupational certificates, national certificates, further education and training certificates, higher and advanced certificates, and the business administration degree. A large catalogue of short courses covers leadership, workplace skills and personal finance. Recognition of prior learning is offered on several qualifications.
Intakes depend on the programme. Short courses open as soon as they are bought. Many vocational qualifications start once a month, and the degree runs in three trimesters a year, so students can join at the start of the next trimester. Entry requirements are set per qualification: programmes at NQF level 5 and above generally need matric or a related NQF level 4 qualification, the degree asks for a school-leaving certificate with a solid English result or a recognised equivalent, and the banking qualifications require the student to be working in the banking sector. Several programmes also need access to a workplace for logbooks and work-based tasks.
Fees are published per programme on the college's own site, and payment is made when enrolling online. Some qualifications offer a payment plan or a monthly subscription that continues until the student is found competent, while others are paid upfront.
