Belgium Campus iTversityBC

Belgium Campus iTversity is a private higher education institution that teaches only information technology. It was established in 1999 and operates as Belgium Campus 1 iTversity NPC, a non-profit company incorporated under section 13 of the Companies Act, 71 of 2008 with company registration number 2001/017971/08 and public benefit organisation reference 930009313. The institution is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997, on registration certificate 2003/HE08/001. Its qualifications are accredited by the Council on Higher Education and listed by the South African Qualifications Authority on the National Qualifications Framework. A separate MICT SETA accreditation, number ACC/00/2016/07/0010, covers a certificate in information technology and is valid until 24 October 2026.

Teaching happens at three approved sites of delivery: Pretoria, in Berg Avenue in Heatherdale, Akasia; Kempton Park, in Long Street; and Stellenbosch, in Distillery Road in Stellenbosch Central. The registered degree and diploma programmes are offered in contact mode, and the institution also runs what it calls a HybeFlex hybrid model, which mixes live online sessions, self-paced work, block-release intensives and dual delivery where campus and online students attend the same class. Its published teaching approach, the Participative Development Model, has students working on industry problems rather than only studying theory.

The offering runs from a Mathematics Bridging Course through a Diploma in Information Technology at NQF level 6 with 360 credits, including a version designed for Deaf students, an Advanced Diploma in Cybersecurity, a Bachelor of Information Technology in Software Development at NQF level 7 with 360 credits offered full-time and part-time, and a Bachelor of Computing at NQF level 8 with 480 credits. Postgraduate study covers a Postgraduate Diploma in Cybersecurity Risk Management and a Master of Information Technology, both requiring a 60 percent average for entry. Diploma and degree entry rests on a National Senior Certificate meeting the minimum for that level, with degrees also requiring 50 percent for pure mathematics or a set mark in the bridging course. Payment is by a non-refundable registration fee plus a discounted single payment or a 10, 11 or 12 month instalment plan, supported by bank student loan partnerships, merit awards and a bursary fund.
