Qualifications

The NQF is the ladder South African qualifications sit on: level 4 is matric, a higher certificate is level 5, a diploma is level 6, a bachelor’s degree is level 7, and it runs to level 10 for a doctorate. Credits are the size of the qualification — the notional learning hours behind it — so two qualifications at the same level can still be very different amounts of work.

Each qualification page lists the institutions we hold verified data for, and the careers that qualification leads to. We are capturing institutions province by province, so a page may name the qualification and its careers before it can name a single place to study it.
