About the institution

CambriLearn is an online private school and homeschooling provider with its South African base in Sandton, Johannesburg. It began in 2008 as a small South African online learning venture called TopDog and took the CambriLearn name in 2016. It also lists offices in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Australia.

Teaching is fully online. Learners join scheduled, timetabled lessons with qualified subject teachers, and each lesson is recorded so it can be watched again later. Recorded video, worksheets and step-by-step guides sit alongside marked assignments, tests and exams. Parents can follow attendance and progress through a dedicated parent dashboard, and higher packages add direct messaging with teachers and regular question-and-answer sessions.

The school covers learners from about age four through to the end of high school, across several curricula. South African families can follow CAPS in English or its Afrikaans equivalent, KABV, and can choose an IEB pathway. International options include a British curriculum leading to International GCSEs and A Levels, a Pearson Edexcel pathway, and a United States K-12 programme delivered through a sister brand.

For the South African matric, CambriLearn is registered with SACAI and with the IEB, two assessment bodies that are themselves accredited by Umalusi. A CAPS learner in Grade 12 writes final exams at an external venue allocated by SACAI, and those exams are written only in South Africa. Both routes lead to the National Senior Certificate. CambriLearn also holds Cognia accreditation and is a Pearson Edexcel approved exam centre for International GCSE and A Level candidates. The school states clearly that it is not affiliated with Cambridge Assessment International Education.

Enrolment happens online. A parent or guardian creates a profile, adds a learner, picks subjects and pays, and the learner can start once payment is allocated. British curriculum courses are self-paced and can begin at any point in the year, while CAPS courses follow the school calendar and activate from the start of a term. No formal entry requirements are published, and the school offers a consultation to help families choose subjects.

Fees are published per curriculum, grade and package on the school's own site, through an online fee calculator. Families can pay upfront or spread the cost over instalments. A once-off registration fee applies, and textbooks, devices and external exam fees are charged separately. No bursaries or external funders are named.
