About this event
The Eskom Expo International Science Fair is the national science fair run by Eskom Expo for Young Scientists. It runs from 29 September to 2 October 2026. This two-hour slot on Thursday afternoon is when members of the public may walk the floor and meet the young scientists behind the projects.
About 316 learners from 35 Expo regions across all nine provinces are taking part, with 24 international participants from 11 countries. Their projects fall into 13 categories, with topics such as health and wellbeing, learning, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Learners stand with their projects and can explain what they investigated and why.
It is worth the trip for learners thinking of entering Expo themselves, for anyone weighing up a science, engineering or technology study path, and for parents and teachers who want to see what school-level research looks like.
Bring a few questions for the learners and something to take notes on. Two hours goes quickly, so plan to arrive close to 15:00.
The venue is in Boksburg, Gauteng, near OR Tambo International Airport. Check the organiser's website before you travel in case anything changes.
